Interested in learning about grant writing, but don’t know where to begin? Or are you already a grant writer and want continue developing your skills? No matter what your experience level, I firmly believe everyone can benefit from investing in professional development. And when the resources are freely available, there’s no reason not to take advantage and learn as much as you can! Here are 3 of my favorite free grant writing resources:

GrantHub by Foundant Technologies offers 2 free webinars each month. One is on their product for grant management, but the other always focuses on how to improve your grant writing practice. They usually bring an expert in the grant writing field to teach this webinar and give free worksheets, articles, etc. for you to keep afterwards. Best of all? If you sign up for the webinar but aren’t able to listen in real time for whatever reason, you will still receive a link to the replay which you can re-watch whenever you need a refresher.

#Grantchat is the place to be on Tuesdays! Every Tuesday at 12pm EST. on Twitter @Grant_Chat hosts an hour long Q&A session for grant writers. They generate group questions that everyone is welcome to respond to for that hour. It’s a great place to not only share your experiences, but learn from others.

GrantSapce, a service provided by the Foundation Center, offers several trainings (in person, webinar, and on-demand). The variety of trainings they have available really allows you to customize what you learn and how you learn. While not all of these services are free, several are, making them a great resource to use. This page on their website is specifically dedicated to proposal writing trainings.

So there you have it! You now have 3 fantastic, free resources to help you learn about grant writing, brush up on your grant writing skills, or just continue to develop as a professional grant writer. If you have have any more free resources you are aware of, be sure to share them in the comments so we can all learn and grow as grant writers together!
