The Blogger Behind the Blog: Answering 20 Get to Know Me Questions
When you read or view content on social media, do you ever wonder about the person behind the blog, vlog, podcast, or posts? I do! The more I view a person’s work, the more I have questions like: What’s their personality like behind the screen? Do we share any favorite books or movies? What inspires them to do what they do?
These questions were fresh on my mind this week and I realized that, because my blog focuses on my professional work, some of you may wonder these things about me. So for today’s blog I’m changing things up and answering 20 Questions from Tinypulse.com that are used in team building exercises - I thought this would be a fun way for you to learn about the blogger behind this blog. Are you ready? Let’s go!
1. Who inspires you?
This changes regularly depending on whose work I’m studying or what I’m learning at the moment. As I grow and develop (personally and professionally) the people that inspire me change too. At this moment it’s YouTuber Amy Landino and Mindvalley founder Vishen Lakhiani.
2. What was the best concert you ever attended?
The Guardians of the Galaxy - Awesome Mix Live Concert I watched at Epcot when I went to Walt Disney World earlier this summer. I love the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtracks and the concert - with cameo appearance by Baby Groot - did NOT disappoint.
3. Where’s your favorite place in the world?
The top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. It’s so breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful up there that everyone speaks quietly to keep the peace and soak in the views.
4. If you could be any animal, which would you be?
A cat . . . just don’t ask me which specific type of cat.
5. What’s the last book you read?
For fun reads I just finished rereading the entire Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews to prep for the newest book which comes out later this month - Sapphire Flames! For more serious reads I just finished Brain Maker by Dr. David Perlmutter.
6. What are you passionate about?
The power of words, whether written or spoken. I absolutely love this quote from Dr. Who’s “The Shakespeare Code” that sums it up perfectly: “Say the right words at the right time and you can make men weep or cry with joy. You can change them. You can change people’s minds just with words.”
7. What’s your favorite movie?
This is so difficult to choose because there are several movies I can happily watch several days in a row, but if I had to it would be The Mummy & The Mummy Returns (they’re a package deal in my mind lol). They’re the perfect blend of action/adventure, history, fantasy, humor, and romance for me.
8. What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
This summer on the drive to/from Florida my family stopped at 22 different National Park Service parks/monuments/historic sites in 6 days to get as many Passport Cancellation Stamps as we could. It was epic, somewhat chaotic, and I loved every second of it.
9. What are you currently watching on Netflix?
Currently I’m not watching anything on Netflix, but eventually I hope to catch up on Stranger Things season 3. Right now I’ve been watching more cable, and that’s a mix of Kids Baking Championship, HGTV shows like Good Bones & Restored, and Dr. Pimple Popper.
10. What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?
A combination scrapbooking/personal development project called Lifebook which helps you tune into what you really want in 12 different areas of your life and develop a strategy to get there. It’s fun, inspiring, and enlightening to learn more about myself this way.
11. Who would you like to swap places with for a day?
Cherry Wallis or The Tim Tracker. They’re both YouTubers who get to spend their day living/breathing the magic of Harry Potter and Disney respectively.
12. What’s the best meal you’ve ever had?
Lunch at Sanaa, a restaurant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge that allows you to view animals roaming the savannah outside while you eat. On top of how magical that experience was, the Potjie Inspired Entrée I had was so wonderfully flavorful I literally scraped every piece I could out of the bowls. I would happily save up the money to eat there again (Disney restaurants are not budget friendly lol.)
13. If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?
Toss up between the WB Harry Potter Studio Tour in London or Zion National Park.
14. What are some of your pet peeves?
Being interrupted when reading. Reading is a special event that deserves time, focus, and solitude.
15. What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
Solving jigsaw puzzles! I don’t know why, but I find it easy and relaxing to put puzzles together, and can usually solve a 1000 piece puzzle in about a week give or take a few days.
16. Which four individuals, living or dead, would you like to eat dinner with most?
This is tricky! I would want to eat dinner with people I could laugh and have fun conversations with so I’m going to have to say Elizabeth Gilbert, Lin-Maunel Miranda, Lily Singh, and Trevor Noah.
17. If you were a crayon, what color would you be?
Crayola’s Radical Red. It’s one of my favorite pink/red color combos.
18. What’s the most helpful way for you to get feedback?
The format of the feedback doesn’t matter to me so much as the reason behind any changes that were suggested/asked to be made. That helps me better understand my client’s thought process, writing style, and goals, which in turn helps me to write a better 2nd draft for them.
19. What is your favorite family tradition?
Thanksgiving day sleepover with my younger cousins. We stay up late, eat way too much junk food (usually chocolate and popcorn), watch movies, and generally just have a blast.
20. Who is your least favorite superhero?
If we’re talking MCU . . . that’s tough because I like them all. I might have to go with the Hulk just because I didn’t like the first two Hulk movies (although I love Mark Ruffalo’s portrayal in all the later movies). If we’re talking DCU it's Cyberman. I don’t feel like his personality came through enough in Justice League to have him as a favorite (although that could change later on).
